Mountain After Mountain – A Photography Series by Salestani

A photographic exploration of Iran’s astonishing climatic contrasts across its many mountain ranges—captured all within a single season.

Through these frames, we witness how variations in elevation, geography, and climate come together to shape mountain landscapes that are at times harmonious, and at times starkly contrasting.

Between 2006 and 2019, I traveled across Iran, visiting diverse natural environments and capturing fleeting moments with my camera. These journeys laid the foundation for a deep and lasting connection between myself and the mountains—and the untamed wilderness—of my homeland.

After photographing the Himalayas and Karakoram for my project "Beyond That Tall Mountain" a growing urge returned within me: to come back—this time, to the mountains of Iran.
